Hi, I am a student of Classics in Linguistics Class in Boston College. I am going to do a research on Olga T. Yokoyama. She doesn't have an entry yet. How should I go around creating a new one? Best, Ekaterina Mironova

Hi Ekaterina!

My recommendation would be to start working on the article in your sandbox, as this would give you more time to work on the article than you would if you tried to start it in the mainspace. You can use this time to collect in-depth, reliable secondary sourcing to show that she is notable as well as to back up her biographical information. You can use primary sourcing to back up some of the basic claims, but they cannot show notability, however. You should be able to see the Timeline on your course page which will walk you through these steps.

The main thing that I would need to warn you about, however, is that not all topics (people, events, organizations, etc) pass notability guidelines on Wikipedia, so it would be a good idea to check and make sure that she's notable before doing the work. You can read more about Wikipedia's notability guidelines here.
