Do I need to cite sources to summarize the content of a book for its article?

Statements on Wikipedia are supposed to be sourced, but if I'm writing an article on a book, do I need to cite pages of that book for the summary?

A brief summary of the content won't require sources unless you plan to quote directly from the book, in which case you will want to cite the book and the page number
