I want to assign my students to create an article not already on Wikipedia. Do I start it using Special:Mypage/_? Or do you have other suggestions?

(The article I want them to work on is John Williams' novel, Butcher's Crossing.)

You can insert the title the same way you would an already-created article. There are a few things that will work a little differently for titles that don't have corresponding articles, but the dashboard can handle both existing and non-existing topics.
