Should I have students nominate their articles for Featured Article?
In almost all circumstances, no. Featured Articles are the culmination of a long process of improvement and the nomination process for even extremely well written articles is long and arduous. In addition, many of the criteria applied to featured articles are stringent and not immediately obvious to new editors on Wikipedia. Even a superlative student article would likely face more than one trip through the Featured Article nomination process (which could last weeks or more), with no guarantee of promotion.
