Ask Your Question

Revision history [back]

The editor nominating the article should be willing to answer questions from volunteer editors working the Did You Know? (DYK) queue in a timely fashion. If you are willing to update the hook in response to questions or provide information about the sources in the article (especially if they are not available on the web) and the student is not, you should nominate the article. However, your student is almost always in a better position to answer those questions than you are.

If you nominate many (>5) articles for DYK or have nominated more than 5 in the past, you will be asked to perform a 'quid pro quo' review of another DYK candidate in the queue before your nomination will be promoted. If you plan to nominate several student articles you should familiarize yourself with not just the criteria but the process for nomination. Your students won't have to do this if they nominate their own article, so bear that in mind.

See Wiki Ed's handout on DYK submissions.
